University of British Columbia Spin-off SnapCyte Solutions Inc. Announces Incorporation
September 20, 2022 | Vancouver, British Columbia | Public Announcement – SnapCyte Solutions Inc., a bio-analytical software company committed to advancing artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smartphone technology for biological and life science research, was incorporated in the province of British Columbia, Canada, as a spin-out enterprise from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
SnapCyte Solutions Inc. is developing laboratory smartphone technology for instant, accurate, and intelligent assessment of cell culture confluency and fitness in real-time. The technology is based on an AI algorithm that enables the SnapCyte™ app to increase performance and accuracy over time.
“The idea behind SnapCyte™ was founded based on a need in our own laboratory”, says Dr. Mads Daugaard, co-founder of SnapCyte Solutions Inc., Senior Research Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre and Associate Professor at UBC. “We have developed a low-cost technology for rapid cell culture confluency and fitness assessment that can be used in any laboratory setting, independent of costly instrumentation and with minimal time commitment for the user.”
SnapCyte™ is currently undergoing final beta-testing and will become available to the world-wide research community on iOS and Android in early 2023.
