SnapCyte Solutions Inc. Announces the Launch of their First Products
August 1, 2023 | Vancouver, British Columbia | Public Announcement – SnapCyte Solutions Inc., a bio-analytical software company committed to advancing artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smartphone technology for biological and life science research, has launched their first products, the SnapCyte™ App and the SnapCyte™ Adapter.
The SnapCyte™ App analyzes the cell confluency of live cell cultures. The technology is based on an AI algorithm that enables the app to increase performance and accuracy over time. The SnapCyte™ App allows researchers to take a snapshot of their cells and get confluency results in seconds. The user can also track cell cultures (experiments) over time and acquire growth curves. Data can be exported from the app for further analysis.
The SnapCyte™ App works for all adherent cell lines and primary cell cultures with 95-98% accuracy.
The SnapCyte™ Adapter is used to mount a smartphone to a standard laboratory microscope, transforming the smartphone into a powerful cell analysis platform. The SnapCyte™ Adapter is an easy-to-handle 3D printed device with a high quality lens that can be adjusted to fit all smartphones and microscopes on the market.
“The SnapCyte™ App and Adapter have been beta-tested in 25 laboratories located in Europe and North America over the past 6 months and the system is now ready for worldwide distribution,” says Dr. Mads Daugaard, CEO and co-founder of SnapCyte Solutions Inc., Senior Research Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre and associate Professor at UBC.
“The idea behind SnapCyte™ was developed based on a need for easy point-and shoot cell analytics in our own laboratory. Access to instruments for cell analytics are often a bottleneck in research laboratories due to high user loads. Also, it is time consuming to train manual/visual estimation of cell confluency to new students. These hurdles inspired us to develop an easy-to-use and accessible technology that could accommodate any laboratory setting, independent of costly instrumentation and with minimal time commitment for the user,” says Daugaard.
